Dashboard Sharing and Collaboration Best Practices

April 20, 2026 · By Mike Rodriguez

Dashboards are most valuable when they are shared. DataWise provides a comprehensive set of sharing and collaboration features designed for teams of all sizes. This guide covers how to share dashboards securely, manage permissions, and collaborate effectively with your coworkers.

There are two main ways to share a dashboard in DataWise. The first is direct sharing with teammates via their email addresses. You can assign each person a role: Viewer (read-only access, can apply filters but cannot edit), Editor (can modify widgets, change data sources, and reconfigure charts), or Owner (full control including sharing settings and deletion). The second method is generating a public share link with an optional expiry date and password protection. Public links are ideal for sharing read-only dashboards with external stakeholders like clients, investors, or vendors.

Collaboration features extend beyond sharing. Every widget has a comment thread where team members can discuss insights, tag teammates with @mentions, and resolve threads when issues are addressed. Dashboard activity feeds show a real-time log of changes, so you always know who modified what and when. For Enterprise plan users, audit logs provide a complete, exportable record of all dashboard access and modifications for compliance purposes. Combined with role-based access control, these features ensure your data stays secure while enabling seamless teamwork.
