Setting Up Alerts: Get Notified When Metrics Change

April 28, 2026 · By Sarah Chen

One of the most powerful features of DataWise is the smart alerts system. Instead of constantly checking your dashboards, you can configure alerts that notify you when something important happens. This guide covers the three types of alerts available: threshold alerts, anomaly alerts, and percentage-change alerts.

Threshold alerts are the simplest: you set a condition like "total daily sales drops below $5,000" or "customer satisfaction score exceeds 4.5," and DataWise monitors your data and sends a notification when the condition is met. Anomaly alerts use machine learning to detect unusual patterns in your data: a sudden spike in refunds, an unexpected drop in traffic, or any deviation that falls outside the expected range based on historical patterns. Percentage-change alerts compare the current period to a previous one, like "alert me if weekly revenue drops more than 15% compared to the same week last month."

You can configure delivery channels for each alert: email, in-app notification, or Slack integration. Alerts include a summary of the triggering event and a direct link to the relevant dashboard so you can investigate immediately. You can also set quiet hours to avoid being notified during off-hours, and configure alert grouping so related alerts are batched together rather than sent separately. To set up your first alert, open any dashboard widget, click the bell icon in the top-right corner, and follow the configuration wizard.
