Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how DataWise (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, discloses, and safeguards information when you use our analytics platform (the “Service”). By using the Service you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
- Account information — your name, email address, and authentication credentials (passwords are stored only as salted hashes; we never store them in plain text).
- Data you upload — the files and datasets you import for analysis, and the dashboards, widgets, and reports you create from them.
- Usage information — logs and metrics about how you interact with the Service (for reliability, security, and product improvement).
- Integration tokens — where you connect a third-party source (e.g. Google Drive), the access tokens needed to fetch your data, which are encrypted at rest.
2. How we use information
We use information to provide and operate the Service: to store and render your dashboards, run the analyses you request, send the notifications you configure, secure your account, and improve reliability and features. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the contents of your uploaded data to train shared machine-learning models.
3. AI processing
Some features send a limited sample of your data to a large-language-model provider to generate summaries, suggestions, and narratives. Before any such call, we run automated PII redaction to remove common personal identifiers from the sample. You can avoid AI processing by not using the AI-powered features.
4. Data retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active, or as needed to provide the Service. Each dashboard has a configurable retention window; data past that window is purged automatically. You may delete individual data sources, dashboards, or your entire account at any time, which removes the associated data from our primary systems.
5. Security
We apply layered safeguards including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption of sensitive secrets at rest, tenant/organization isolation on every data query, role-based access controls, and server-side protections against common web attacks. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data using industry-standard measures.
6. Sharing and disclosure
We share information only with: (a) service providers who host or operate infrastructure on our behalf under confidentiality obligations; (b) recipients you explicitly choose (e.g. when you share a dashboard or send a report); and (c) authorities where required by law. We do not sell personal data to advertisers.
7. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (including under the GDPR and CCPA), you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal information, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the app (profile, data-source deletion, account deletion) or by contacting us. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
8. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to secure your session. We honor privacy-preserving defaults and do not use non-essential tracking cookies without consent.
9. International transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.
10. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, an in-app notice.
